ANZ Young Skipper Scholarship 2010

Winners Announced

This year we have two successful recipients 

The New Zealand Seafood Industry Council and ANZ are delighted to announce that the successful recipients of this scholarship are Lynise Eden and Scott Fletcher.

Lynise Eden will use her scholarship to fund the course component of the Inshore Launchmaster qualification. This will allow her to become a coastal fishing skipper.

Scott Fletcher will use his scholarship to fund the course component of the Offshore Watchkeeper course. He started out in a fishing factory and has already achieved a number of qualifications.

At the annual New Zealand Seafood Industry Conference 2010, ANZ celebrated its decade of support as the Principal Sponsor by donating $10,000 to be used as a scholarship to assist a young person employed on a working commercial fishing vessel to achieve a ‘skipper's ticket'.

The ANZ Young Skipper Scholarship is an excellent opportunity for a keen person in the New Zealand seafood industry to progress their career on board a commercial fishing vessel.

The scholarship is valued at $10 000.

How to apply

Applications for this scholarship closed on September 13, 2010.

All interested parties are required to complete the application form in full and submit to the New Zealand Seafood Industry Council either via post to be received prior to 5pm 13 September 2010.

The scholarship is administered by the New Zealand Seafood Industry Council Ltd.

The scholarship selection Committee consists of:

  • Seafood ITO Vessel Operations Sector Manager
  • Two industry representatives

The selection of an appropriate candidate or candidates for the ANZ Young Skipper Scholarship 2010 will be in accordance with the Terms & Conditions.

No correspondence will be entered into subsequent to the selection of a recipient or recipients.
